Acoustic & Lighting
Individual Project, 2nd year, Spring 2021
Skills Used: SketchUp, Enscape
Acoustics and Lighting project is focused on re-evaluating and rethinking the North Dakota State University Interior Design studio space. Currently, the studio is crowded, not acoustically sound, has outdated finishes, and lighting is not adequate for the current space. These problems create a difficult learning environment for both students and teachers. To resolve the current issues within the studio space, several factors must be taken into consideration including acoustics, lighting, layout, and biophilic factors. To enhance the acoustical attenuation of the space, acoustical baffles, wall panels, and cloud ceilings. The new design of the space is to keep the studio looking bright, light, and also a quiet and controlled work area. The lighting is adequate, bright, and uniform. There are adequate acoustical controls, and the studio has been separated for lectures, single workspaces, and lounge space.
